The panoramic view from the condo |
We recently had another gaming weekend up at Bear Lake with the Rowleys and Bresees. Even though we were having bouts of warm weather, the weather didn’t cooperate as much as we would have liked when we went there. We even had to drive through a blizzard part of the way which was not what we expected.
Since we prearranged all our meals and divided up who was bringing what, there was really no need to leave the condo. We had no set plans so it turned out to be a pretty relaxing weekend with lots of games involved. The only couple of outings we had were when the kids and half the spouses went out for a walk to a nearby park one day and when the husbands decided to go on a hunt for Bear Lake’s famous raspberry shakes (found at a local gas station surprisingly). Of course, Rowley never fails to bring more than enough board games to get us by. This time around, we tried out Robinson Crusoe and Pathfinder. Both were entertaining, but we definitely got more into Pathfinder. We actually ended up playing that one many times during the trip and again after the trip. I think we were all pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the game especially since Rowley prefaced the choice by saying, “I don’t think you will like this.”
All in all, we had a great time hanging out with friends and the kids had a blast playing all weekend long. In the future, we probably wouldn’t opt to go to Bear Lake again with a hoard of children unless we were definitely going to do outdoor activities. Bear Lake is just too beautiful to be inside all day and the drive isn’t worth it if we aren’t able to enjoy the lake.
