I made another Nova Jumspuit! Even though I just made one, I knew I’d want a shorts version in my wardrobe and I couldn’t resist making one with this dinosaur fabric. Yes, I’m thinking this is the perfect outfit for a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom the next time we’re able to go!
*This fabric was provided to me for free as a Minerva Brand Ambassador. All views and opinions are my own.
Sizing
I made a size 0 with waistband elastic cut for a size 4. I also shortened both front and back straps by 1 inch. That adjustment (along with probably sewing a slightly larger seam allowance than I was supposed to) brought my armscye up a bit higher than I wanted it to. I might go back to fix the straps for a bit more ease, but it’ll do for now. One thing a friend mentioned I do was add that 1 inch back into the bodice, but I completely forgot to and now wish I did. Notes for next time for sure. Even though it isn’t perfect, I’m still very happy with how it turned out.
Fabric
For my next Minerva Brand Ambassador project, I chose this dinosaur jersey knit which is part of the Esoterra collection from Art Gallery. I’m a big fan of Art Gallery Fabrics and I absolutely loved working with this knit. If you’re new to sewing knits, I’d highly recommend their jersey knits. They’re soft, wash up well, and so easy to sew with. For this project, I didn’t need much more than one yard for my sizing.
Pattern
This is the Nova Jumpsuit pattern from True Bias. I have notes on this pattern from my first Nova Jumpsuit post so I won’t go over them again here, but I will say that I’m still loving this pattern. The shorts version is an even simpler version than the last one I made and I could definitely see myself making and wearing so many more versions of this.
For this make, I decided to add my Slow Fashion label. It seemed appropriate for a dinosaur romper and I love how it looks. It’s one thing to see these labels finally made, but it’s another thing to see it actually on a garment. I don’t think I’ll ever get over how amazing it is to see them put to use.
Read all about this make on my Minerva post. Be sure to give me a follow while you’re there!
