I’m a Utah girl which means I’ve been surrounded by mountains my entire life. It’s only as an adult that I’ve come to appreciate the beauty in my own backyard. So when it came down to my first blog post for Raspberry Creek Fabrics (coincidentally, a Utah business), I instantly fell in love with this mountain print by Kelsey Shaw.

About Raspberry Creek Fabrics
I’m relatively new to Raspberry Creek Fabrics, but have been incredibly impressed by their fabric quality, selection, and customer service. I don’t sew a ton with knits, but everything I’ve gotten from RCF has quickly changed my mind. They offer a variety of different fabrics, but their Club prints are what sets them apart from other companies. Their Club prints are printed in house and their latest fall collection is available in jersey or french terry.
Fabric
I opted for the mountain print in their 12 oz french terry. It’s comfortable, not at all flimsy, and a breeze to sew with. The texture of this print gives even more dimension to the base which I wasn’t expecting. Seeing it in person, I was surprised to see how gorgeous it was and I was so excited to cut into it. For this set, I used almost every bit of the 2 yards I had.
Patterns + Details
I set out to make a pair of Hudson Pants by True Bias. This is the first time I’ve made the women’s version of this pattern and it did not disappoint. It was a relatively quick sew that I was able to complete in a day. I’m so glad I picked the french terry which was ideal for this pattern. I made size 0, based on my hip measurement, and shortened it by 1 inch. The end result is perfect and I love how comfortable the fit is.
With the extra fabric, I decided to make a matching top using the Elliot Sweater and Tee pattern by Helen’s Closet. I had just enough fabric for a size 4/6 in view C with 2″ shortened in the sleeves. I left it unhemmed. I wasn’t sure how this view would look in french terry, but I love it. It’s the perfect match to this set.
Overall Thoughts
I’m a sucker for matching sets so this faux one piece idea is the perfect way for me to get the most wear out of these pieces. I live in joggers around the house, especially in the colder months, and can’t wait to wear this outfit together and separately all through winter. I may even find some other ways to style these pieces for more casual every day looks.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the fabric from Raspberry Creek. If knits are still scary to you, I’d highly recommend checking out their french terry fabrics. I am completely sold and can’t wait to get my hands on more!
