Let’s talk about gauze fabric. Before I started sewing garments, I thought gauze fabric was only for bandages and baby blankets. I had no idea it would be suitable for garments. Fast forward to present day when gauze is one of my most favorite woven fabrics.
*This fabric was provided to me for free as a member of the Minerva Makers team. All views and opinions are my own.
The first time I sewed with gauze was for my Chalk & Notch Fringe Dress. (I have yet to blog about it, but here is a look at it on Instagram.) Even though they’re both technically gauze fabric, the double gauze I used for that dress is significantly different from the gauze I used in this top. Both are still very breathable, but this one is way more textured and bubbly. If you’re looking to add texture to a garment, look no further!
Here, I used the free Ruffle Sleeve Top pattern from In the Folds for Peppermint Magazine. I have a goal to work through all their beautiful freebie patterns and this one did not disappoint. With thorough instructions and a clean design, I’d highly recommend this pattern to sewists of all levels.
