One of my favorite things to do when planning a trip is putting together outfits. I love it even more if I can throw in some handmade outfits, but it’s been awhile since I’ve made anything so it didn’t even occur to me that I could make something for our upcoming Disney trip until the week of our departure. In my usual fashion, I decided last minute to throw together an outfit for Isabelle and I couldn’t be happier with how well it turned out.
Aristocats Maxi Dress |
Isabelle is always my helper when it comes to making decisions on her outfits and costumes so she came with me to pick out her fabric. Hobby Lobby had some great Disney fabric options and she decided on this Marie fabric immediately upon seeing it.
It had been awhile since I’ve made anything that wasn’t a Halloween costume and it took me alot longer than it should’ve to remember how to read the pattern. I used the C variation of the Simplicity 1121 pattern and I love how it turned out. The pattern was a good one to get back into the groove of things and I love how the dress turned out. It definitely has Isabelle written all over it.
Mouse Ear Supplies |
To help pull the outfit all together, I made the mouse ears as well. I have had the supplies to do it for over a year and this was the perfect opportunity to finally make them. If you’ve been eyeing this cute trend, it’s super easy to make at home with plenty of tutorials and inspiration to be found online. For the basics, I found THIS tutorial to be pretty straightforward.
Things you’ll need:
- Metal wire (I found this in the jewelry section at Joann’s. I want to say I got the 20 gauge but I am not entirely sure.)
- Pliers (Great for cutting and shaping the wire)
- Headband (not pictured above)
- Ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Extras to add like a bow or flowers
